Eurasia Tunnel Wins One More Award Eurasia Tunnel has been deserved for Global Road Achievement Award by the International Road Federation (IRF)

Linking Asia and Europe under seabed with double-deck highway tunnel, Eurasia Tunnel has been deserved for the big award which is offered by the International Road Federation (IRF) in the construction methodology category of Global Achievement Awards. Samil Kayalak, deputy Director General of Infrastructure Investments of the Turkish Ministry of Transport Maritime and Communication; Başar Arioglu, Chairman of the Board of Eurasia Tunnel and Sungjin Lee, Director General of Eurasia Tunnel joined the award ceremony held in Dubai. Having tendered by the Infrastructure Directorate General of the Turkish Ministry of Transport Maritime and Communication and built by Build-Operate-Transfer model by Eurasia Tunnel Operate Construction and Investment Inc. (ATAS) Eurasia Tunnel raises its number of international awards with every passing day.

In order to encourage and support development of road networks across the world, the International Road Federation choses successful names which ensure infrastructure technology development with excellent and innovative projects with “IRF Global Success Awards” holding every year. This year at the end of evaluation, Eurasia Tunnel, of which construction and operation processes are tracked with interest in the entire world, has been deserved the big award in the category of ‘Construction Methodology’.

Exemplary transport technology for the world

Eurasia Tunnel features an exemplary across the world with its state-of-the-art-technology, super engineering study, a unique deployment straddles the two continents, its route passes Istanbul strait under 106 meters depth and operation concept in the international standards. Together with approaching roads including a route totally 14,6 kilometers, Eurasia Tunnel’s 5,4 kilometers part composed of double-deck tunnel underneath seabed. Eurasia has been finished 8 months earlier than the planned time without being experienced any accident.

Thanks to the tunnel saving worth TL160 million will be provided per annum, so the emission amount will be reducing 82 thousand tons. During intensive foggy weather, in emission rates, fuel consumption and vehicle maintenance costs will lower due to reduction of 100 minutes trip period to 15 minutes.
