Turkish automotive production increased 19 percent to the number of 857 thousand units in the first eight months this year compared to the same period previous year.
Turkey’s total automotive production increased 19 percent, the automobile production 9 percent between January-August 2015. In this period, the total production reached by 857 thousand units, automobile production was in the level of 500 thousand units, according to the statement posted by Turkish Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD).The total market surged 46 percent to 627 thousand units in the first eight month this year. The automobile market jumped 43 percent to 454 thousand units in this period over the same period previous year. In this period as the unit-base total automotive exports increased 8 percent, the automobile exports decreased 1 percent. The total number of automotive exports became 617 thousand units; the automobile exports were 377 thousand units. While automobile exports decreased 1 percent, the commercial vehicle exports increased 8 percent over the same period last year. The tractor exports also decreased 14 percent to 9,536 units in this period. The automotive exports
in terms of value became $13,8 billion decreasing 10 percent in the first eight months, year on year. The automotive exports took place at the first line in the overall exports of Turkey in this period, according to the data from Turkish Exporters’ Assembly. Together with 34,251 unit tractor production the total automotive production reached by the number of 892 thousand units in the first eight month this year. The tractor production increased 8 percent between January- August 2015. In this period, the total automobile sales increased 43 percent, imported brands up 42 percent and domestic made ones increased 45 percent over the same period previous year. The sales of light commercial vehicle increased 62 percent, domestic made ones 80 percent and imported light commercial vehicles 44 percent in the first eight month this year. The heavy commercial vehicle market increased 20 percent to 27,803 units. Regarding development projects in the construction sector, the truck market raised 21 percent to 24,488 units; increase in the bus market became 28 percent to the number of 1,207 units. According to the last decade on average, the total market enlarged 36.5 percent; automobile market 49.7 percent; light commercial vehicle market 9.7 percent and truck market 21.8 percent, and the bus market decreased 15 percent.
