Turkey’s automotive industry saw a 13.9% decrease in production in July, with total output reaching 116,569 vehicles, according to a recent report from the Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD).
Passenger car production fell by 7.7% year-on-year, totaling 81,434 units. Despite the overall decline, automotive exports, including cars and commercial vehicles, grew by 9.2% to 88,334 units.
Turkey earned $3 billion from vehicle exports in July, a 9.1% increase compared to the previous year. However, the domestic auto market shrank by 17.2%, with total sales dropping to 97,430 units.
Several major international automakers, including Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Mercedes, Renault, and Toyota, operate factories in Turkey, which remains a significant player in the global auto market.
From January to July, Turkey’s vehicle production declined by 5% year-on-year, totaling 823,636 units. Passenger car production saw a slight decrease of 2%, reaching 542,177 units during the same period.
