LASID Secretary General Bahadir Unsal warns the current temperature of the location has importance, while transforming winter tires with summer tires.
As of the end of 1st April, the winter tire application period ended. Regarding passing from the winter tire application to summer tire, the Tire Industrialists and Importers Association (LASID) pointed out the statement of under +7 Celsius degree temperatures. LASID Secretary General Bahadir Unsal reminded the current temperature of the location while transforming from winter tire to summer tire application by taking temperature into consideration whether it is up +7 Celsius degree or not. The use of winter tires – which is applied regarding their more road-holding, shorter braking distance features, as well as fluent and safety traffic – ended as of 1st April. LASID Chairman Bahadir responded the questions of drivers when they would change winter tires in the case that the weather temperatures might continue under the seasonal conditions. Highlighting the statement about under +7 Celsius degree in accordance with the related regulations, Bahadir said; “However the lawful period has ended on 1st April. The weather temperature is specified to be over +7 Celsius degree for the summer tire application. For this reason drivers are wanted to consider this criterion. The temperatures can navigate under the seasonal conditions. Hence, as passing from the winter tire to summer tire, primarily existing location’s temperature should be taken into consideration not 1st April.” Saying “It is important to pass to summer tire in time”, Bahadir Unsal reminded winter tires should be kept in the suitable and suggested place. Highlighting winter tire application was increasing with every passing year, Unsal said, “Despite it is not an obligation, we saw that the passenger cars also use the winter tires. Regarding the winter tires allow vehicles operate in traffic in a more fluent and safely by providing strong road holding and short braking distance in the weather conditions when temperatures appear under +7 Celsius degree. The winter tires having designed compliance with winter conditions, they are not suitable for the temperatures over +7 Celsius degree. For this reason, along with temperature increases, summer tires become suitable.”
