The sales of automobiles and lightweight commercial vehicles increased 1.37 percent to the number of 72,536 units in August 2017 compared to the same month last year.
Turkish Automotive Distributors Association (ODD) posted the domestic market monthly data of automotive and light commercial vehicle sales.
According to this statement, the sales of automobile and light commercial vehicles raised 1.37 percent to 72,536 over the same period last year that was 71,536 units. The sales of automobiles increased 1.69 percent to 54,890 units in August 2017 over the same month previous year. Last year, the sales were 53,977 units.
As for the sales of light commercial vehicles, their sales increased 0.38 percent to 17,646 units over the same month last year. In August 2016, the sales in this category were 17,579 units in this segment.
As of the end of August 2017, the sales of automobiles under 1600cc decreased 3.6 percent, the automobiles between 1600-2000cc 0.9 percent and over 2000cc 49.9 percent respectively. As of the August 2017, the number of 40 electric vehicles was sold and 2,359 hybrid automobiles in the domestic market.
At the end of August 2017, the highest market was the automobiles having emission rates between 100-120 gr/km with 42.5 percent to 179,862 units. As of the end of August 2017, the share of diesel automobiles decreased by 61.5 percent and the rate of automatic transmission cars raised by 58.0 percent. In this period, A, B and C segments accounted for 83.9 percent regarding having lower tax rates. As for the segments, C segment became the highest segment with 52.2 percent to 220,769 units. According to the body types, the most preferred body type was sedan automobiles with 49.4 percent to 209,202 units. As for the light commercial vehicles, Van featured in the category of highest sales with 69.8 percent. Then small trucks ranked with 12.2 percent, minibus with 9.3 percent and pick up with 8.7 percent respectively.
