Karsan Exports 20 Electric Buses to Romania!

Karsan has reached an agreement with the Romanian municipality of Dej to deliver 14 Atak Electric and 6 Jest Electric buses. Having won the tender funded by the European Union Regional Development Fund for the modernization of public transport in the region, Karsan will deliver 20 fully electric vehicles destined for public transport within 2020.

With a factory based in Turkey, Karsan offers transport solutions that meet the mobility needs of the age and remains a popular choice in Europe with its fully electric public transport vehicles, Jest Electric and Atak Electric. Karsan has recently reached an agreement with the Romanian city of Dej to deliver 14 Atak Electric and 6 Jest Electric buses. Together with its distributor Anadolu ROM, Karsan won the tender funded by the European Union Regional Development Fund for the modernization of public transport systems run by the municipality of Dej and aims to deliver the electric vehicles within 2020.

Jest Electric, the first member of Karsan’s electric vehicles range, stands out with its compact size of 6 meters and superior maneuverability in the city. Equipped with a BMW electric motor producing 125 kW power and 290 Nm torque with optional 44 or 88 kWh batteries again made possible by BMW, Jest Electric offers the best performance in its class with a range of up to 210 km. The motor at the heart of the Atak Electric generates 230 kW engine power and 2400 Nm torque, providing users with a high performance driving experience. Running on a total 220 kWh battery capacity with five 44-kWh batteries developed by BMW, the 8-meter Atak Electric boasts a unique 300 km range to outpace its rivals. The vehicle’s batteries can be charged in 5 hours with AC charging, and in 3 hours with DC charging units.
