Automechanika Frankfurt offers free training on modern accident repair in 13 workshops

Automechanika Frankfurt, in collaboration with leading companies in the industry, is organizing a total of 13 practical, free workshops. The concept has been expanded: the courses now cover almost the entire process chain of accident damage repair. The offerings range from damage assessment, cost estimation, and body measurement to metal, plastic, paint, and glass work, as well as ADAS calibration, high-voltage safety, and AI-supported robotic painting. Participation is free of charge, confirmed with a certificate, and includes free admission to Automechanika Frankfurt for those who register in advance.

The workshops, which take place daily in Hall 11.0, address the latest developments in modern accident repair. “Anyone repairing a damaged vehicle today needs significantly broader expertise than just a few years ago. Digitalization, driver assistance systems, alternative drive systems, and high-voltage technology are fundamentally changing repair processes. With the workshops we organize together with our partners, we make this development tangible and impart skills that workshops need today and will need in the future,” says Olaf Mußhoff, Director of Automechanika Frankfurt.

The event kicks off with topics such as damage diagnosis and calculation, as well as body measurement. In the workshop “Systematic Damage Assessment of Accident-Damaged Passenger Cars,” DEKRA Automobil GmbH will demonstrate how accident damage is systematically recorded and transparently documented. Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH (DAT) will present “Damage Calculation with SilverDat3 – The Digital Toolkit for Your Workshop!” This workshop focuses on the efficient digital calculation of vehicle damage in everyday workshop operations. “Body Frame Straightening Bench Repair including Electronic Body Measurement” will be conducted by Car-O-Liner Deutschland GmbH and will explain the interplay between frame straightening bench repair and electronic body measurement.

The focus of these specialized repair techniques is on metal and plastic. BETAG Innovation by Beulentechnik AG demonstrates in “Sustainable Plastic Repair of Bumpers” how damaged bumpers can be repaired in a resource-efficient manner. Carbon GmbH presents techniques for repairing large-area steel damage to car bodies in “External Bodywork Dent Removal (Steel, Large Area).” Wieländer+Schill GmbH & Co. KG explains in “Combined Joining Techniques (Bonding, Riveting, Welding) – Process Optimization Methods” how bonding, riveting, and welding can be combined reliably and efficiently.

Paint and glass form a separate focus area. For the first time, the German Federal Association of Automotive Glaziers (Bundesverband Autoglaser e.V.) is also participating, presenting the entire process chain from damage assessment to the calibration of driver assistance systems in “Modern Vehicle Glazing Processes in the System – From Damage Assessment to the Calibration of ADAS Components.” In the workshop “Professionally Replacing Windscreens – Vehicle Glazing Under Time Pressure – Mastering Modern Adhesive Technology,” the association teaches how to reliably perform a professional windscreen replacement even under time constraints. In “Digital Claims Processing in Vehicle Glazing – Faster Calculations, Secure Billing, Error Prevention,” the German Federal Association of Automotive Glaziers demonstrates how digital processes can accelerate the calculation and billing of glass damage and reduce errors. Surventis GmbH (formerly BASF Coatings GmbH) and Farécla Products Ltd. (Glasurit, Farécla) combine proven painting practices with digital applications in “Tradition Meets Modernity – Digitalization & Painting.”

Modern vehicle technology and new automation solutions are the focus of the workshops on ADAS diagnostics, alternative drive systems, and AI and robotics. Robert Bosch GmbH explains the calibration of modern driver assistance systems and diagnostics through fault memory reading in “ADAS Calibration for Vehicles with Automated Driving Levels 2+ and 3 and Diagnostics with Fault Memory Reading.” The TAK Academy of the German Automotive Industry and Toyota Germany GmbH present key safety measures for repairing damaged high-voltage vehicles in “High-Voltage Safety in Everyday Workshop Operations – Precautions for Accident Repair.” SEHON innovative Lackieranlagen GmbH demonstrates how AI and robotics can support painting processes in the skilled trades in “AI Revolution – AI-Supported Robotic Painting for the Trades.”

Flexible formats for professionals and up-and-coming talent

The workshops are offered in one- and three-hour formats. The three-hour sessions combine a high degree of practical application with in-depth detail, while the one-hour workshops provide a concise introduction and overview. All workshops take place daily from September 8th to 12th in parallel, in both German and English. Thursday mornings are specifically geared towards young professionals: vocational school classes will gain exciting insights into various aspects of accident damage repair.

Prominent and expert support is once again provided by the automotive experts Hans-Jürgen Faul and Holger Parsch. The free workshops are aimed not only at workshop professionals, but also at specialists from all other areas of the industry – such as automotive appraisers, service advisors, and engineers – as well as up-and-coming talent. The workshops offer not only practical training on current topics and trends, but also a great opportunity to exchange ideas and network with other automotive professionals.
