Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge Move Towards Finish

Having qualified as continuity of the historical Silk Road, third bridge, in other words Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge’s works are continuing. As a total of 59 steel deck segments assembly planned, 42 of them have been mounted mutually on both sides as Asian and European. The rest 17 deck segments’ production is continuing. The main span between the two sides is 1,408 meters. The remaining part is 391 meters of the suspension third bridge to be installed on Bosporus to link the two sides each other. As the main wire’s drawing and fixing process has been completed, mounting of wire bracelets are continuing. The longest suspension bridge with rail system After completed the third suspension strait bridge will be longest bridge across the world with 59 meters width, 1,408 meters in main span combined with rail system, as well as with the longest tower with 320 meters. The bridge will have a combination of road-rail Bridge. The bridge will be the longest bridge of the world with 1458 meters in basic span length with 322 meters height. Having 59 meters width with 8 lanes, the third bridge also has two lanes for railway. Nearly costing $4,5 billion, the third straits bridge named Yavuz Sultan Selim bridge and Northern Marmara Highway project is being built by build-operate-transfer model by ICA. The bridge route takes place between Garipce village in the European side and Poyrazkoy district in the Asian side. In the project, the number of 4,627 persons work, 737 machines and 51 various equipments are being used with three shifts for 24 hours. Totally having 64 viaducts The bridge is part of the projected 260 km (160 mi) long Northern Marmara Motorway (Turkish: Kuzey Marmara Otoyolu), which will bypass urban areas of Istanbul in the north connecting Kınalı, Silivri in the west and Paşaköy, Hendek in the east. The 58.4 m (192 ft) wide bridge will be 2,164 m (7,100 ft) in length with a main span of 1,458 m. Provisional lighting has been set on the towers, ground and suspend ropes of the bridge in order to help works.
