As of the end of August 2017, the total number of road motor vehicles registered reached 21,863,854 units; white dominates in car color with 59.8% in Turkey
The total number of road motor vehicles registered to the traffic reached 21 million 863 thousand 854 by the end of August. Within the total, cars represented 54%, followed by small trucks 16.4%, motorcycles 14.1%, tractors 8.3%, trucks 3.8%, minibuses 2.2%, buses 1% and special purpose vehicles 0.2%, according to the statement posted by Turkish Statistical Institute.
In August, 107,837 motor vehicle registrations were recorded
Within 107 thousand 837 vehicle registrations in August, cars accounted for 58.7%, followed by motorcycles 16.4%, small trucks 16.3% and tractors 4.3%. Minibuses, buses, trucks and special purpose vehicles constituted 4.3% of new registrations.
The number of motor vehicle registrations decreased 15.8% over previous month
In August 2017, the number of road motor vehicle registrations decreased by 15.8% compared with the previous month. Cars, small trucks, trucks, motorcycles, special purpose vehicles and tractors decreased by 15.8%, 14%, 2.4%, 22%, 13.9% and 13.4% respectively. Minibuses and buses increased by 17% and 10.9%.
The number of vehicles registered up 12.8% over the same month previous year
In August, the number of road motor vehicle registrations increased 12.8% compared with the same month of the previous year. Cars, minibuses, buses, small trucks, trucks and motorcycles increased by 15.9%, 48.9%, 48.4%, 11.6%, 20.2% and 9.2% respectively. Special purpose vehicles and tractors decreased by 16.7% and 14.8%.
In January-August, the total number of vehicles in traffic increased by 773,430
While 64 thousand 418 road motor vehicles were withdrawn from traffic, 837 thousand 848 road motor vehicles were added in January-August period. Hence, the total number of road motor vehicles registered increased by 773 thousand 430.
637,002 road motor vehicles handed over in August
Among 637 thousand 2 vehicles handed over, cars accounted for 70.1% followed by small trucks 15.9%, motorcycles 5.7% and tractors 2.8%. Minibuses, buses, trucks and special purpose vehicles constituted 5.5% of the handed over motor vehicles in August.
The ratio of cars registered using LPG was 38.6%
At the end of August, among 11 million 802 thousand 713 registered cars, the share of LPG-fuelled cars was 38.6% followed by diesel-fuelled cars with 34.8% and gasoline-fuelled cars with 26.1%. The ratio of the cars with unknown fuel type was 0.4%.
In August, 63,263 cars were registered to the traffic
In terms of the distribution of trademarks for the 63 thousand 263 new registered cars in August, Renault recorded 16%, Volkswagen 12.5%, Fiat 8.6%, Dacia 6.4%, Opel 6.3%, Hyundai 6.2%, Ford 6%, Toyota 5.4%, Mercedes-Benz 4.6%, Nissan 4.1% and the other trademarks 23.9% of the total.
Most frequent engine size was 1501-1600 for registered cars
Within 494 thousand 795 cars registered to traffic in January-August 2017, 40.4% of them had engine size 1501-1600, 26.9% had 1401-1500, 14.3% had 1300 or less, 13.3% had 1301-1400, 3.9% had 1601-2000, 1.1% had 2001 and above engine size.
Most frequent colour was white for registered cars
Within 494 thousand 795 cars registered to traffic in January-August period, 59.8% of them were white, 17.5% were grey, 7.5% were black, 5.6% were red and 9.6% were in other colours.
