Motor Vehicles Registration Reached 22,218,945

At the end of December 2017, the total number of road motor vehicles registration reached by 22,218,945 in Turkey, according to the statement posted from Turkish Statistical Institute

The total number of road motor vehicles registered to the traffic reached 22 million 218 thousand 945 by the end of December 2017. Within the total, cars represented 54.1%, followed by small trucks 16.4%, motorcycles 14%, tractors 8.3%, trucks 3.8%, minibuses 2.2%, buses 1% and special purpose vehicles 0.2%, according to the statement posted from Turkish Statistical Institute.

In December, 103,042 vehicle registrations were recorded

Within 103 thousand 42 vehicle registrations in December, cars accounted for 65.2%, followed by small trucks 16.5%, tractors 7.3% and motorcycles 7%. Minibuses, buses, trucks and special purpose vehicles constituted 4% of new registrations.

The number of vehicle registrations decreased 5.7% compared with the previous month

In December, the number of road motor vehicle registrations decreased by 5.7% compared with the previous month. Cars, small trucks, trucks, motorcycles, special purpose vehicles and tractors decreased by 2.9%, 9.7%, 33.8%, 22.3%, 8.3% and 1.2% respectively. Minibuses and buses increased by 14% and 46%.

The number of vehicles registration increased by 1.6% over the same month previous year  

In December, the number of road motor vehicle registrations increased by 1.6% compared with the same month of the previous year. Cars, minibuses, buses and small trucks increased by 2.4%, 3.7%, 29.2%, and 9.8% respectively. Trucks, motorcycles, special purpose vehicles and tractors decreased by 45%, 3.4%, 11.2% and 3.2%.

In the period of January-December, the total number of vehicles in traffic increased by 1,128,521

While 118 thousand 928 road motor vehicles were withdrawn, 1 million 247 thousand 449 road motor vehicles were added in January-December period. Hence, the total number of road motor vehicles registered increased by 1 million 128 thousand 521.

673,141 motor vehicles handed over in December

Among 673 thousand 141 vehicles handed over, cars accounted for 69.5% followed by small trucks 17.1%, tractors 4% and motorcycles 3.5%. Minibuses, buses, trucks and special purpose vehicles constituted 5.9% of the handed over motor vehicles in December.

The ratio of cars registered using LPG was 38.4%

At the end of December, among 12 million 35 thousand 978 registered cars, the share of LPG-fuelled cars was 38.4% followed by diesel-fuelled cars with 35.4% and gasoline-fuelled cars with 25.9%. The ratio of the cars with unknown fuel type was 0.4%.

In December, 67,154 cars were registered to the traffic

In terms of the distribution of trademarks for the 67 thousand 154 new registered cars in December, Volkswagen recorded 14.4%, Renault 13.4%, Fiat 7.2%, Toyota 7%, Hyundai 6.1%, Nissan 5.4%, Opel 5.3%, Ford 5.2%, Dacia 5%, Skoda 4.2% and the other trademarks 26.8% of the total.

Most frequent engine size was 1501-1600 for registered cars

Within 741 thousand 902 cars registered to traffic in January-December period, 40.8% of them had engine size 1501-1600, 26.1% had 1401-1500, 14.3% had 1300 or less, 13.7% had 1301-1400, 4% had 1601-2000, 1% had 2001 and above engine size.

Most frequent colour was white for registered cars

Within 741 thousand 902 cars registered to traffic in January-December period, 58.7% of them were white, 18.4% were grey, 7.6% were black, 5.7% were red and 9.5% were in other colours.

Average age of vehicles registered to traffic was calculated as 13.1

By the end of year 2017, the average age of 22 million 218 thousand 945 road motor vehicles registered to traffic in Turkey was calculated as 13.1. Average age was 12.4 for cars, 12.7 for minibuses, 12.5 for buses, 10.5 for small trucks, 15.5 for trucks, 12.7 for motorcycles, 11.7 for special purpose vehicles and 22.9 for tractors.
