The foremost industrialist establishments in the province of Eskisehir desire to make the engines of Altay tank
Turkey’s Locomotive and Engine Industry Corp. (TULOMSAS) and TUSAS Engine Industries Inc. – which is the leading company in the aircraft engine parts and module production, maintenance, mounting and test technology – were announced to have capability to make the engines of Altay tank.
Savas Ozdemir, Chairman of Eskisehir Chamber of Industry (ESO), said, “Being used such an engine made by TULOMSAS in Altay tank would be the truest decision.”
Highlighting manufacturing a tank engine in Eskisehir province might be the truest decision, Ozaydemir said; “Truck engines are made at the plant of Ford Otosan located in the town of Inonu, Eskisehir province. These engines are manufactured in power up to 400-500 hp. However, TULOMSAS can make the engines in 1000 hp. The company makes electric engines as well. In addition, there is TEI which makes jet engines. Capacities and brain structure of TEI are very close to design. In the aspect of design, its drawing is powerful. There is also accumulation in TULUMSAS. If the two companies come together, the national tank engine can be manufactured in Eskisehir. An inspiration, which made Devrim brand automobile in 145 days, will be able to make this engine in a short time as well.”
Indicating significant technical possibilities would be needed in the project, Ozaydemir continued; “Although design is important, a firm of ours makes the engines of BMC firm. It makes casting and processing of the engine completely. These engines are used in our national vehicles. If you say both experience and accumulation the province of Eskisehir is a suitable as cast, production capacity and design knowledge. There are also lots of supplier industries registered in our chamber. They ship parts from here to Germany. In addition, we can also benefit from our neighboring province of Bursa. This engine can materialize from Eskisehir.”
“We are leader of Turkey in reciprocating engine technology” TUSAS Engine Industry (TEI) Director General Mahmut Aksit, indicating they have been in the leading position in reciprocating engines and designs in the country, and said they had operated first domestic made unmanned diesel engine in January.
Aksit continued, “This engine is a truly autonomous diesel engine in 170 hp of which we have developed and made the all engineering activities. Its all design and development activities have been made by us. TULOMSAS currently manufactures engines in 2400-2500 hp.
He also added TEI, the leading firm in aviation engines, goes on its way. TEI will be the two firms to be certified complying with AS9100D and AS9110C versions in the world.
