Exporting the number of 705 vehicles per day on average, accounted for $3,8 billion of foreign currency. Manufacturing passenger and commercial vehicles at its three plants located in the provinces of Kocaeli and Eskisehir, Ford Otosan exported 257 thousand 246 vehicles to 83 countries last year. One of the foremost automotive producers of Turkey, Ford Otosan has closed the year 2016 with strong results despite negative incidents both in the home and abroad. Having a total capacity of 415 thousand units, the company produced the number of 333,749 vehicles 290 thousand of Transit and Custom models at the plant in Golcuk, 110 thousand at the plant in Yenikoy, 15 thousand Cargo trucks at the plant in Inonu in 2016. The models which rolled off the production line constitutes 137,240 units of Custom, 120,844 units of Transit, 70,803 units of Courier, 4,862 units of Cargo trucks. Having the highest production capacity of Turkey, the capacity utilization rate of the company recorded as 80 percent. The growth oriented strategy of Ford in Europe provided remarkable contribution to Ford Otosan which features the only production center for Transit model in Europe, for Custom and Courier in the world. Last year Ford Otosan accomplished 65 percent of Turkey’s commercial vehicle exports itself. Custom ranked atop with 51%, Transit second with 36%, Courier third with 13% in terms of model. As the European countries constituted the key markets of the company, the UK first with 31%. Germany ranked second with 18% of its exports, France, Italy and Spain listed with 8%, 7% and 6% respectively in the company’s exports last year. In the last 5 years, Ford Otosan increased its employment 8%, as well as maintaining its leadership in the automotive industry employment. As of end of last year, the number of employees of the company became 10,261 units including white and blue collars.
