Consumers Tend To Less Fuel And Powerful Cars

Demand is going to increase to the vehicles featuring high performance and low fuel consumption. In the first nine months in 2011, while 28.8 percent of new registered vehicles’ cylinder volume accounted for 1501- 1600 cc, this rate has raised by 40.4 percent in the same period in 2015. Inclination of consumers to the automobiles featuring low fuel consumption and powerful has urged the sales of these vehicles to increase in recent years, according to the information from Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat). In the first 9 months of 2015, the number of 562,504 unit new automobiles registered. Of these, 40.4 percent accounting for 226,974 units have 1501-1600 cc engine volume. In 2011, in the same period the rate of new registered vehicles was 28.8 percent in the same engine volume. This rate rose from 28.8 percent to 40.1 percent between 2011 and 2015 in the said period. As for the rate of vehicles having 1401- 1500 cc engines rose from 17.3 to 22.4 percent between 2011 – 2015. Interest in the automobiles having 1301-1400 cc engine volume reduced from 21.3 to 14.4 percent since 2011 onwards in the same period. The rate of the vehicles having engine volume less than 1300 cc decreased from 19.8 to 17.5 percent. Prof. Dr. Ihsan Karamangil, lecturer in Engineering Faculty of Uludag University, said the consumers paid attention mostly to engine volume. He continued, “It is wanted the engine volume of vehicles to be bought not to exceed 1600 cc. The share of automobiles have the engine volume between 1501-1600 cc has increased among the total automobiles. One of the most important reasons of this is both customers and firms run to comply with this demand. In other words, the firms offer vehicles corresponding to these features. As the engine volume rises, power of the engine rises too. Together with this, the main target is to reduce engine volume to increase engine power by using other techniques. We cannot say high engine volume consumes more fuel. A vehicle, which has an upper level engine volume, can consume less fuel than a small engine volume.”
